When you think about the Needles of Bavella, South Corsica, straight away into your mind comes pure quality granite rock, awesome climbing lines and a breathless landscape. Well, climbing De Rerum Natura is all of that condensed. You get what you come looking for and even more!
Punta U Corbu – Bavella – Corsica
This peak is lost among thousands of others similar in this vast granite ocean. The Corsica wilderness here is not a desperate vision… Every big wall requires a long approach into the thick, deep and steep bush. You have to deserve to climb here! Be humble…this isn’t stupid advice!
The Line, De Rerum Natura, is 250m high and 7 pitches The crux is basically a pure overhanging 7c trad crack. The first to climb it were Rolando Larcher and his mate M. Oviglia in 2010.
We had been climbing in Corsica for a few days already with Thibault Saubusse and Gérome Pouvreau and some other friends. When we finally reached the Bavella region, all we had in mind was that line. Nothing Else. Playing with the weather forecast to make this happen, we jumped on it one day in December 2016. What a Day! I had the pleasure as photographer to watch an amazing onsight run by Gérome… just cruising up the wall!
